NEMO Connect, Inc.
NEMO Connect, Inc. is a 501(C)3 Non-Profit organization.
In 2013, Kirksville was awarded a grant from the Governor's Committee to End Homelessness to hold a Project Homeless Connect (PHC) event. PHC is a National Best Practice model recognized by the United States Interagency Council on Homelessness (USICH) and is designed to remove barriers that homeless individuals and families face when trying to utilize services in the community by having services available to them in one place, on one day.
The committee for the PHC event decided to form a Non-Profit organization, NEMO Connect, Inc. Our goal is to reduce homelessness, and assist those with the potential to become homeless. We are researching funding/grants to continue our efforts of helping those in need, find a suitable location/partner for shelter/transitional housing in our area, and be the central point of contact for those in need.
The name of the annual event has been changed to NEMO Community Connect, and is held the first Friday of each October.

What We Do:
Our ultimate goal is to be the connecting point to assist individuals/families in obtaining permanent housing. We will connect people in need to organizations in town based upon the services they require.
Throughout the year, our volunteer Board will assist individuals/families in need on a case-by-case basis. We will assist an individual or family once every 12 months with up to 2 nights at a local hotel/motel if they meet certain criteria. We will also assist individuals on a referral basis to obtain their driver's license or birth certificate, and will discuss other needs on a case-by-case basis.
